Community Action Organization (CAO) of Scioto County announce that its Dental Center received an $8,400 grant from the Scioto Foundation. The funding will be utilized to purchase equipment that will allow clinicians to render services more efficiently.

The Scioto Foundation grant has allowed CAO to purchase surgical, laser and ultrasonic equipment. Carrie Massie, director CAO Dental Care Center, said they will be able to serve patients with cutting edge technology.

“This funding from the Scioto Foundation allows our providers to use cutting edge technology so patients don’t have to travel far away to get specialty care,” Massie said.

The CAO Dental Center has been open in downtown Portsmouth since 2001, rendering dental care to people of all ages. The Ohio Department of Health has designated Scioto County as a dental health professional shortage area. Addtionally, as a result of the grant, the local region will have access to oral health care.
