New Boston village employees will have their one-time pay increase in time for Thanksgiving, Black Friday and Christmas shopping.

Village Council met in emergency session early Monday morning and voted to pay their employees a one-time pay increase again in 2015.

Last year, action came too late for the biggest Christmas shopping day of the year, Black Friday, but this year Council took action in time.

Repeated attempts to reach Mayor Junior Williams and the president of Village Council, Mike Payton, were unsuccessful Monday morning. The Daily Times reached Councilman Dan Fetty who had been unable to attend the meeting.

“I know they had an emergency session to try to get it to the employees before Christmas and Thanksgiving,” Fetty said.

Village Clerk/Treasurer Lana Loper verified the action had been taken and the amount.

“It was for $500 for full-time employees and the amount was pro-rated for non-full-time employees,” Loper said.
