The Portsmouth Area Chamber of Commerce and Main Street Portsmouth are gearing up to host the first Shop Small Holiday Expo where local neighbors can come together and shop, or plan their shopping lists, based on area businesses or experienced crafters from their own community.
The Shop Small Holiday Expo will take place Wednesday from 4-7 p.m. at the Welcome Center and invites crafters and local businesses both to register and set up free of cost with expenses covered by both organizations. Some vendors include Patter Fam Foods selling their variety of sauces, Georgin Portraits with their specials and onsite Christmas photos, Gypsy Chic Boutique with fashion and accessories, Ghosts in the Attic with one of a kind antiques, Copies Galore offering nostalgic gifts, and Hidden Treasures offering eccentric and artistic finds, among many more, each offering a unique array of holiday gifts and subscription services.
According to those behind the event, the Expo will serve as an opportunity to see what the community has to offer, and remind locals that “You don’t need to order on Amazon or leave town for that special gift”.
Main Street Portsmouth Director Joey Pratt encourages locals to attend the expo event and stresses the importance of shopping local for the upcoming holidays to support small area businesses.
“Main Street Portsmouth is proud to partner with the Chamber to bring this opportunity to the local business community and area shoppers,” Pratt said. “With over 40 vendors, we hope to show people you can get amazing, unique gifts locally, from friends and neighbors, who depend on our loyal business, rather than a big box store from outside of the area.”
