The Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District announced Wednesday that as of Oct. 31 their recycling program has been temporarily suspended throughout both Lawrence and Scioto Counties.
According to the district, “We are in negotiations for a new contract, and until this contract is ratified, we have no choice but to discontinue the recycling program.”
LSSWMD stated that they hope this situation is resolved quickly, and will do their best to keep the public informed as the issues are resolved.
Currently the District has 38 sites, with 94 containers serving both counties, and asks for the public’s understanding and patience until the matter is resolved.
LSSWMD Director Dan Palmer stated that after the contract issues are resolved replacing all 94 containers will take some time, but the district is trying to reinstate the program as quickly as possible.
