A Minford man was arrested on Saturday after leading police on a high-speed chase through Portsmouth and New Boston before being apprehended in Sciotoville.
Deedric Alonzo Perkins, 23, of Minford, was driving a red Chevy truck and failed to heed warnings after Portsmouth Police originally attempted to stop him for reckless operation of a motor vehicle.
According to reports, the chase began east of Gallia St. and continued into New Boston where New Boston Police joined in the pursuit and took the lead position. According to New Boston PD, Perkins entered the village at 75 mph and struck multiple parked cars in the 4300 Block of Rhodes Avenue, resulting in a busted tire. Perkins continued the pursuit and according to officers was struggling to operate the vehicle on wet pavement.
Perkins was apprehended when the chase ended on Gallia Pike in Sciotoville, and faces a long list of charges including failure to control, leaving the scene of an accident, reckless operation, operating an unsafe vehicle for continuing the pursuit with a faulty tire, marked lanes violation, and charges for driving up onto village sidewalks, among others.
It is unclear at this time whether drugs or alcohol were a factor in the chase.
