Last ‘Third Thursday’ scheduled

GREENUP, Ky. — The final Third Thursday event of the 2015 season is going to go out with a bang. The event is scheduled for Thursday, June 18, from 6-8 p.m. on the Greenup County Courthouse square in downtown Greenup, Ky.

Anne Stephens, UK Extension Agent for Fine Arts, said they are anticipating a large crowd for the event which provide a wonderful, multi-faceted experience.

“This is the final event of the season, we expect a nice crowd in our beautiful downtown,” Stephens said. The purpose is to provide an opportunity for the community to get outside, enjoy the downtown, visit with each other, hear traditional music, and support local business.”

According Stephens, the final Third Thursday event is sponsored by ‘Growing Greenup,’ and will equipped with live traditional string music in the gazebo by Kentucky Memories. Other features will include make-and-take art activities by Greenup Arts, sidewalk chalk, and a free inflatable for kids.

Pop-Pop’s Sandwich Shoppe will be open for dinner. Stephens said attendees should plan to enjoy some ice cream at Emomaus along with live jazz saxophone by Isaac Stephens.

Helping Hands Thrift Shop will also be open, and a special historic tour of downtown will start at 7 p.m. led by Mattie Coldiron. Tour will begin at the courthouse and guests are invited to drive golf carts, ride bikes, or walk.
