It may seem a bit early to be engaging in conversation about Christmas events, but that is exactly what they have been doing at a meeting of the city’s Parks & Recreation Committee. That committee has set Nov. 21 as the date for “Pancakes with Santa” to be held in the Veterans Hall at American Legion Post 23 located at 705 Court Street in Portsmouth.

Rich Saddler, chairman of the committee, said the event will begin at 9 a.m. and run until noon. Tickets are $5 at the door and children 12 and under eat free. Saddler said the breakfast menu includes pancakes, sausage links, milk and juice and will feature a special guest appearance of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus. The committee will also be playing festive movies for the kids.

At the same time, the committee will sponsor an arts and crafts bazaar from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. with access for vendors beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Saddler said the vendor fee for the craft bazaar is $15 for an 8-foot table, which will be provided. He said vendor prepayment is required and those vendors wanting to be a part of the bazaar can mail a check or money order to: Portsmouth Parks & Recreation, P.O. Box 1844, Portsmouth, Ohio 45662.

Vendor information is available by contacting Kismet Bratchett at 740-464-2606 or at [email protected].

Saddler said proceeds from the event will benefit parks and recreation activities within the city of Portsmouth.
