The Grayson Gallery& Art Center (GGAC), Inc., will present the first exhibit of works by the Carter County Art Guild (CCAG) to be held in the gallery at 301 E. Third Street in Grayson, Ky., during the monthly Final Fridays Art Walk on Sept. 25 from 6-9 p.m.

Dan Click, GGAC coordinator, said the idea for the upcoming exhibit came through his participation in the Anna Robinson Memorial Art Show.

“It was via my personal participation showing work in the annual CCAG Anna Robinson Memorial Art Show in 2010 that introduced me to the Guild and what they had been doing in the visual arts here for over 30 years,” Click said. “This was what led to the idea and eventual establishment of the Grayson Gallery &Art Center, due to the amazing amount of artists and arts supporters in the region and the need for a venue for the arts locally. We owe a lot to this group of artists for their dedication to sharing art with the community.”

He said the Anna Robinson Memorial Art Show brings, “A touch of color, enriching our community.”

“Members of the Guild, the long-standing arts organization in Carter County, is well known regionally for its annual Anna Robinson Memorial Art Show that is held in partnership with the Grayson Area Chamber of Commerce during the Grayson Memory Days event each May,” he said.

Numerous works by CC Art Guild members will be shown, with many for sale, and will consist of diverse art mediums – from quilts and paintings to 3D pieces and poetry. For information on how to become a member (not affiliated with the Grayson Gallery) artists may contact the CCAG c/o Sandra Stephens at P.O. Box 112 Grayson, Ky. 41143. The Gallery welcomes back singer/songwriter Sasha Collette, who will provide entertainment for the evening. Refreshments will be served by Friends of the Gallery and the event is free to the public.

Additionally, works will be on display on Saturdays from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. through mid-October as part on the on-going program to establish an Artist Market in the Gallery. Visitors are welcomed to stop in to see the newly remodeled office and display area as well as have an opportunity to browse through some of the nearly 200 art reference books and magazines donated by arts supporters in the area.
