GREENUP COUNTY, Ky. — Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital (OLBH) will sponsor the 31st annual 5K Greenup Old Fashion Days Race Thursday, Oct. 1, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Greenup County Courthouse.

Alan Osuch has served as the race planner for the Greenup Old Fashion Days Race for the last three years, and said they are excited about the event.

“Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital is the overall sponsor for this event, and they have a fitness center, Firm Fitness in the Bellefonte Pavillion, and I put the race on for them each year,” Osuch said. “It is part of the Old Fashion Days in downtown Greenup, and the race is always the first day of the Old Fashion Days, which in this case would be October the first.”

He said the Greenup County Old Fashion 5k event is a great event which attracts hundreds each year.

“It is a good race, it is always a solid race. We have been able over the last three years since I took it over, have been able to get the numbers to run between 150 to 200 numbers,” he said. “The race is a flat course, in the downtown area. Participants get the opportunity to spend a little time mingling in the Old Fashion Days celebration.”

The run is part of the 50th annual Greenup Old Fashion Days. Race registration begins at 5:30 p.m. at the Greenup Christian Church Family Life Center, Main Street, Greenup, Ky. Entry fee is $18 if received before the event and $25 the day of the event.

The first 150 entrants will receive a race t-shirt. Trophies will be awarded to first two overall male and female finishers with awards given to first three finishers in each male and female age group.

“We will be glad to have any and all runners, all ages are welcome,” he said. “Age groups start at nine and under, and they are five-year age groups going three-deep, first, second, third. Overall winners first and second male, first and second female. We want people to get very healthy in this tristate area, and encourage their friends, and engage themselves in activity, that is why we do what we do.”
