A weekend crash in Jackson involving a Portsmouth Ambulance vehicle has resulted in injury to one of the occupants.
Lieutenant Karla Taulbee of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the crash happened at 9:49 a.m. Sunday on Mayhew Road.
According to the OSHP report, the ambulance was westbound on Mayhew Road, when it went off the right side of the roadway and struck two trees. The driver of the ambulance was identified as Joshua L. Caudill, 31, from Ceredo, West Virginia. A passenger in the ambulance, Brad Duhl, 26, of Wellston, Ohio, was reportedly trapped in the vehicle and was removed by mechanical means.
Taulbee said Duhl was flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital, while Caudill was transported to Holzer Medical Center in Jackson with non-incapacitating injuries.
While the crash is still under investigation, Taulbee said the driver might have fallen asleep. Caudill, the driver of the ambulance was cited for failure to control a motor vehicle.
