‘Burg man arrested for Lowes B & E

The Scioto County Sheriff’s office has apprehended Robert Schackart, 25, of 1250 Bihl Lane, Apt. 42, in Wheelersburg for breaking into Lowe’s in Wheelersburg, where he proceeded to steal several items.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini announced that his office received a call on

Sept. 7, from Lowe’s, located at 7915 Ohio River Road in Wheelersburg, stating that a male subject had broken into the store at 3 a.m. by climbing over the fence in the back of the property and entering the store, stealing several items while inside.

According to the a release from the Sheriff’s office, Captain John Murphy stated that a detective responded to Lowe’s to observe the store video and during this process she was able to identify the possible suspect and his vehicle. The detective was familiar with this suspect and where he has been staying which resulted in detectives along with deputies responding to the Pleasant Valley apartments, located at 1250 Bihl Lane in Wheelersburg.

Upon arrival the suspect vehicle was observed parked in the parking lot. Officers reported that after several attempts of trying to get an answer at the door, the suspect finally responded and opened the door. This resulted in a search of this apartment and the suspect’s vehicle. During this search, deputies found two other subjects hiding inside this apartment not related to this incident.

Schackart was arrested at the scene and has been charged with one count of breaking and entering, a felony of the fifth degree. Schackart is being held on a $15,000 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Friday, Sept. 8.

Schackart has no prior local arrests with exception to an assault that was dismissed.

The sheriff’s department provided no information about the other subjects or information regarding items stolen from Lowe’s.
