Ohio Furnace Powder Coat and Fabrication in Haverhill is a new business that offers some big time services.
The business in owned by Everette Wright and Richard Church and offers powder coating, sandblasting, some welding and metal fabrication. And, the business is prepared to handle jobs as big as eight feet wide, five feet high and 20 feet long.
Wright explained that he worked in construction for 32 years before going out on his own to start a small business. After coming home from a job in Iowa, Wright started looking for other career options.
“I’ve been away from home my whole life, and I didn’t want to go back on the road,” he commented.
Wright got with Church, a friend with 27 years experience in powder coating, and the two decided to go into business together.
Ohio Furnace Powder Coat and Fabrication opened in June. Wright explained that powder coating is more resistant to rock chips, scratching and fading because it is baked on at 400 degrees.
Being one of few operations in the area that offers such a service, Wright explained that they have had customers that were previously going to Indiana to get work completed.
Thus far, Ohio Furnace has been contracted to do jobs from antique furniture, ornamental items and signs to larger car parts.
“Right now, business is sporadic,” Wright commented. “We’ll have a slow period and then get up to six jobs at once.”
He does expect business to pick up after summer, however. Wright explained that being a recreation season, most people are using their bigger toys. They will start wanting work done in the winter.
“We haven’t done any really big jobs yet,” Wright added.
However, the business has had inquiries concerning jobs as large as car frames.
“The interest seems to be there,” Wright confirmed.
He added that the community has been very supportive. Wright and Church have had many referrals from local businesses.
