Local business expanding

TransAmerica is looking to expand its network. For local residents, they might be more familiar with the insurance company called Monumental. Whichever name rings a bell, the local agency in Wheelersburg is looking to hire new representatives to fill its ever growing network.

The agency is trying to accomplish two goals with Tuesday’s recruiting open house, which is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. The first is to meet with possible candidates as the Wheelersburg office looks to expand and eventually relocate into a larger space. Until that happens, the interviews will remain at the current location, 9074 Ohio River Rd., in Wheelersburg. The second goal is to continue to spread the word that TransAmerica has merged with Monumental, which has meant a larger network of products and services.

The Wheelersburg office already employees seven people and is looking to add five-10 more employees. The agents in Wheelersburg offer services to Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky.

“We already have a major client base established and we need additional representatives,” Lisa Conley, associate director, said. “With this merger, it’s brought on additional clients and we need additional representatives that can take care of them.”

Conley said they take care over counties such as Adams, Pike, Ross, Vinton, Jackson, Athens, Meigs, Lawrence and Scioto. In Kentucky, Lewis and Greenup County are covered. In West Virginia, the Wheelersburg office covers all the way to Charleston.

“People don’t stop and think about it, with this little small Wheelersburg office, but we have such a huge client base,” Conley said. “We need people to take care of the existing customers and the base that we already have.”

According to Conley, Tuesday’s open house if an important step for anyone interested in a potential position.

“Basically, it’s going to be a meet and greet,” Conley said. “Anybody that’s interested in applying, we can take their resumes, we can meet them, we can give them the email link to apply. We’re going to have the managers and each one of our reps are going to be here. We’re going to have home office affiliates here that approve the hiring process.

“If they stop in that evening, it’ll speed up and help their hiring process because they’ve already met different members of the management team.”
