Sheriff Marty V. Donini stated that his office received a call on Aug. 10, 2015, from a male who stated that he was watching a male breaking off the ignition to a white bus/rv on St Rt. 140. The caller told the suspect that he called the Sheriff’s Office the suspect then took off in the bus.
Deputy Joe Wilson was able to locate the bus around the 9000 block of St Rt 140 in Wheelersburg Ohio. Deputy Wilson activated his lights and sirens and the suspect continued to drive the bus without stopping. Deputy Wilson followed him as he turned onto Fredrick road then onto Hanes Road. The suspect stopped in the middle of the road and acted like he was going to get out on foot and run. The suspect then put the bus in reverse and struck the deputy in his cruiser then fled back onto 140. Deputy Wilson followed the suspect onto Bennett Schoolhouse Road when the suspect put the bus in reverse striking the deputy inside of his cruiser again. The suspect fled the area and was unable to be located that night.
Sheriff Donini stated that detectives along with deputies were able to get a location on the suspect and on August 18, 2015 they responded to 7178 St. Rt 139 Portsmouth where the suspect was arrested without incident. Detectives were able to locate the stolen bus on Miller’s Run Back Run Road in Lucasville they were also able to locate a stolen SUV that was taken from Kentucky earlier in the week in Portsmouth, Ohio.
Sheriff Donini stated that this is an ongoing case which will result in more charges being presented to the Scioto County Grand Jury on a later date.
Arrested was Daniel Mcglone, age 41, of Portsmouth, Mcglone has been charged with 1 count of felonious assault a felony of the 1st degree, failure to comply a felony of the 3rd degree and felony theft a felony of the fourth degree. Mcglone is being held on a 45,000 bond and will appear in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Aug. 19, 2015.
