The Scioto Foundation has announced the appointment of Patty Tennant as program officer, whose primary responsibility will be donor relations.
Tennant comes from a history of public service in many capacities and says she is excited to start a new adventure with the Scioto Foundation.
“I’ve always been very proud of the Scioto Foundation and the work they do in our community,” Tennant said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to work with them.”
Born and raised in Scioto County, Tennant graduated from Green High School in 1972.
She also studied at Ohio University Portsmouth and Shawnee State University. Throughout her studies, she worked various jobs from secretarial to supervision. Tennant then became involved in education after graduating from Shawnee State University in 2003, with a degree in business management.
In 2005, Tennant was named development director for Notre Dame Schools, where she was responsible for many fund raising events, including the majorly successful “Bid Your Heart Out,” a Notre Dame event that has grown to be one of the most successful benefits in the area. She was also in charge of marketing, publicity, alumni relations, and grant writing for Notre Dame schools during the ten years she spent there.
“I was blessed to have spent many years at Notre Dame and I will treasure my Titan family memories. When my current position opened at the Scioto Foundation, applying was a bittersweet action for me,” Tennant said. “The work will certainly be just as challenging and rewarding, but the hours ultimately allow me to spend more time in the evenings with my family. I have grandchildren to watch grow and I definitely don’t want to miss out on that for a second.”
Tennant attends St. Monica Church in New Boston, where she served as director of religious education for over 20 years. A member of the Leadership Portsmouth Class of 2009, she has also worked with Habitat for Humanity. She is married to Steve Tennant, modernization coordinator at Portsmouth Metropolitan Housing Authority. She has three children and six grandchildren.
“We are so thrilled to welcome Patty Tennant to the Scioto Foundation staff,” Executive Director Kim Cutlip said. “She brings a wealth of experience to the Foundation from her work for the Notre Dame Development Department. I am confident that Patty will be instrumental in expanding the services of the Scioto Foundation to our current as well as future donors.”
