Tracy Park will be saturated with sounds from bands from Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana on Saturday, Aug. 15. The Portsmouth Renaissance (PR) will host the 2015 Summer Bash event at the park from 1 p.m. until midnight.
Mike Elliot, president of PR, said they embrace a vision that will help to improve the Portsmouth area.
“Portsmouth Renaissance is a not-for-profit organization with a vision of a better Portsmouth. We believe in a better place for us to live, and in a better future for our children. What started as a one-time festival to rejuvenate our community has transformed into an all-out effort to bring positivity back to Portsmouth and the surrounding area,” Elliot said.
He said the host multiple fundraisers, highlighting local artistry and music.
“We hold several fundraisers throughout the year, with one large summer festival to showcase the best of local music, literature and art. It’s a chance for the entire community to come together, in a family-friendly atmosphere, and enjoy the best of what Portsmouth has to offer — now, and in the future. The Portsmouth Renaissance Summer Bash is sponsored by Southern Ohio Medical Center and other area businesses. It’ll be a wonderful experience for anyone attending,” he said.
According to Elliot, the festival in and of itself is not a fundraiser.
“The festival isn’t a fundraiser itself. It’s actually what all of our other fundraisers support, although any money donated at the Summer Bash will be used for anything needed in further projects. I couldn’t say specifically. All funds received go back out toward fees associated with the Summer Bash and other projects,” he said.
The scheduled line for the 2015 Summer Bash includes Justin Stephens, Mike Lester,Literature, Gavin Bush, Rattleuce, Tom Stiverson, Eighteen O’Three, Full Fledged Assault, Prather, Bridges Burning, and Chronic Pounder.
