On the heels of a convenience store robbery, Portsmouth police detectives find themselves looking for another robber, and just as they did the first time around, they are asking the public for help in identifying the suspect from a photo taken by a surveillance camera.

The latest investigation involves a robbery at the Subway restaurant located at 1110 Gay St. in Portsmouth.

Portsmouth Police Detective Chuck Crapyou said the suspect entered the business with his face covered and began demanding money. During the time he was committing the robbery, officers said they were told he kept one hand in his coat pocket as if he was armed with a weapon. Crapyou said the suspect then fled on foot proceeding north on Gay Street.

Police said an employee recognized the suspect as the same person who came into the business one hour earlier and asked for a piece of paper and a pen to use, then left.

The images provided are from both visits. The description says the suspect has graying hair, which is short on top with a very noticeable widow’s peak and a receding hair line.

Operations Captain Lynn Brewer said if anyone has information on the incident they should contact the Portsmouth Police Detectives at 740-354-1600.
