Portsmouth Police are seeking help in finding an man who put a knife to the throat of a convenient store employee in the course of a robbery.
Portsmouth Police Operations Captain Lynn Brewer said the robbery at the Marathon station located at 3008 Scioto Trail in Portsmouth.
Brewer said a white male in his late 20s to early 30s entered the store just after midnight Sunday night. The man reportedly requested a tobacco product, then claimed he forgot his wallet. According to the report, the man then departed the business, only to return almost immediately and demanded the clerk open the cash drawer.
The suspect reportedly lunged over the counter, grabbed the clerk, and accessed the cash drawer, before fleeing with an undetermined amount of money. According to Brewer, the suspect was armed with what is believed to be a knife, which he reportedly put to the throat of the clerk during the robbery.
“Anyone that may recognize the suspect in the image or have information regarding this robbery is requested to contact the Portsmouth Police Department Detectives at 740 354-1600.” Brewer said.
