A Minford couple, David Lavey, 41, and Jennifer Lavey, 36, have been arrested on drug charges in the vicinity of a juvenile.
Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini and Portsmouth Police Chief Robert Ware said Thursday at approximately 1:45 p.m., the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force. with assistance from detectives from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office along with the Portsmouth Police Department, executed a narcotics-related search warrant at the Lavey residence located at 9275 Ohio Route 139 in Minford.
Detectives said they seized approximately 11 grams of suspected heroin along with additional evidence related to drug trafficking.
The Laveys were arrested and charged with trafficking in drugs within the vicinity of a juvenile, a felony of the first degree, and possession of drugs, a felony of the second degree.
Captain John Murphy of the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office said Scioto County Children Services responded to the scene upon request.
The Laveys were placed in the Scioto County Jail pending arraignment in Portsmouth Municipal Court on Friday at 9:00 a.m.
The case will be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office to be presented to a Scioto County grand jury for the consideration of additional felony drug-related charges.
