ARGILLITE, Ky. — The third annual Greenbo Grass Bluegrass Festival will saturate Greenbo Lake State Resort Park on Saturday, Aug. 8, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. with sweet sounds of Bluegrass music to be performed by a host of musical bands. The event will be held at the Greenbo Lake State Resort Park Amphitheatre, and is free and open to the public.
This is the second of the Greenbo Summer Music Series, and is sponsored by the Greenup Extension Arts Council. Anne Stephens, Greenup County Extension Office Fine Arts agent and coordinator of the Greenbo Bluegrasss Festival, said the annual Greenbo Bluegrass Festival is the largest of its kind in the county.
“GreenboGrass” is historically our biggest festival of the season,” Stephens said. “Bluegrass music is an important part of our local cultural heritage and people love it. Greenup Arts is proud to partner with our local state park to provide free entertainment for families in our tri-state area,” Stephens said.
Stephanie Poplin, manager at Greenbo Lake State Resort Park, said the festival is highly anticipated by the community, and is known for attracting a very large crowd.
“We are excited about hosting this. I was in attendance last year, and it drew a huge crowd, probably this particular bluegrass show, because it is one of three of the second Saturday series that we do through the Arts Council,” Poplin said. “This is probably the one that has the biggest draw. I would say we had some where in the neighborhood of 300 people who attended the festival last year.”
Food will be available for purchase to be provided by Anglers Cove Restaurant.
“We will have a concession stand open which is run by our Anglers Cove Restaurant,” Poplin said. “Admission is free to the public, so there is no charge to get in.”
Ned Crisp and Bottom Line are the musical headliners for the festival, which will also include Just His, Laurel River Line, The Don and Zack Rambo Band, and Hammertowne.
Greenbo Lake State Resort Park Amphitheatre is located at 965 Lodge Road, in Argillite, Ky.
