Dispute turns deadly

On today’s date at about 3:35 PM the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office received a call of a domestic violence situation at 107 CR 407 South Point 45680.

Upon Deputies arrival they found a pickup truck sitting in the north bound lane of CR 407 right in front of the residence. The vehicle was running but in the parked position and the driver was still behind the wheel. A female and two males were standing outside the vehicle. The female, who is the driver’s wife, advised deputies that she had been in a domestic dispute with her husband throughout the day. Their dispute carried on into the vehicle where a friend of the family intervened. This friend was outside the vehicle which at this point was in the roadway with the male driver and his female wife as the only occupants of the vehicle.

The situation took a turn for the worse and this male friend fired several rounds from a rifle into the vehicle, many of which struck the driver. The male driver was pronounced dead at the scene by Lawrence County Coroner Kurt Hoffman’s Office.

This incident is in the very early stages of the investigation. No names are being released at this time pending notification of family members. More details will be released as the investigation continues.
