Wow. It’s 2017. In the 1950s I never dreamed that I would see 2017, but here it is. I have vowed to face it with intrepid anticipation. That is because I know whom I have my faith in – our creator, healer and deliverer, Jesus Christ.
As I look forward to the next 360-plus days, I am reminded of Jeremiah 29:11-13 – “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.”
There is very little to be reassured about in today’s world, but I have found the Word of God is always reassuring, and you can take it to the bank.
I teach prophecy and everything that is prophesied in his word has either come to pass or I believe will soon come to pass, so why shouldn’t I believe him? I can say unequivocally that I believe he has peace in store for me. That is not to preclude problems, illness, tribulation and all the rest of those negative elements, but my peace is not determined by my circumstances. Peace is a state of the heart. It is not subject to outside forces. It will not change the way I feel about things. In fact, peace is eternal and I plan on living eternally.
So what will this year hold? Well, we have a new president, a somewhat new Congress, and an anticipation that varies from hope to fright. None of that affects me in my spirit. That is because God’s salvation is forever. If I have salvation, I have nothing to fear, so if it is a year of great successes and America becomes great again, I am exactly who I am today. If it is a disaster, and we face expanding debt, I am still the same person I was when the year started.
There is no beginning except for creation. Actually God created the beginning for our finite minds. God dwells in eternity, and it is his desire for us to dwell with him in the same state of existence – eternity. So I know he has peace in store for me no matter what the world brings in the coming year.
Romans 8:28 tells us – “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
So our circumstances have no affect on who we are or where we are headed.
So as I face 2017, I do not face it alone, but with faith in a God who is in complete control. Just because things are going bad, people believe God isn’t in control – but let me assure you, he has a plan and it includes good and bad, but it also includes you and that is the most reassuring thing I can say to you as the new year begins.
