Newsflash: there will be no election do-over. It is official — Donald J. Trump will be president of the United States of America on Jan. 20, 2017. I don’t care one way or the other. What I do care about is respect for the electoral process in this great republic – yes we are a republic. We are not a democracy – remember – ..”and to the republic for which it stands…”
The constitution created the electoral college so that the nuts in New York and California could never elect a president and that is precisely what would happen if we went by the popular vote.
The Democrats undermined Bernie Sanders to try to install their heir to the throne. The Republicans fought their own candidate and he beat them. Just as I was getting over that, along came Jill Stein; actually a Hillary Clinton surrogate by that time, and tried to get a recount. That amounted to nothing but a waste of millions. Then came the attempt by Hollywood and those wanting to keep control of the people to try to get the delegates to flip – outcome – two flipped on Trump – five flipped on Hillary. I can’t believe the establishment is continuing to parade Hollywood types out there with a message when the American public just rejected their message by a landslide.
I would not be surprised to see someone try to take to the courts that the American public voted in a way they didn’t see coming. Some of us did see it coming. The day of the big party control of the U.S. is over. Both parties are scared to death because they have had the power for so long and that may have seen its last days.
Americans are a strange lot. They will allow every cockamamie weird idea to get out there and attempt to take over. Then, when it counts – election day – they show up and nullify the entire process.
By the way, if your child in college is needing therapy to survive the election outcome, it is time to bring them back to America and let them work and live in the real world for a day or two.
Here is the last word: let’s stand back and give the man America voted for a chance to preside, to bring back jobs, drilling for oil to lead us to energy independence, and to attempt to run this country like a business instead of a check-producer.
If he fails, we can vote him out in four years. If he succeeds, we need to lay our partisanship aside and get back to a united America
