A new hair salon is coming to Wheelersburg, located at 429 Center Street. The salon is owned and operated by local Bailey Kirkendall.
Kirkendall graduated from Piketon High School and studied cosmetology at the Cartsen Institute of New York. After completing her studies in New York, Kirkendall moved back to the area in hopes of opening her own salon. A dream that will soon be realized. The salon, Studio B, will host its Grand Opening, Jan. 7 at 9 a.m.
“I’ve always been interested in doing hair,” said Kirkendall. “When I was in high school, I always did hair for proms and homecomings and things like that. As I got older I was asked to do the hair for musicals and different things around the community. It was something that I always loved but never considered doing as a job, until I got into high school. In high school I realized it was something I wanted to stick with and do long-term.”
According to Kirkendall, the salon will offer basic cosmetology services like hair cuts and color alongside facial waxing services. The salon will accept both walk-in customers and appointments.
“My big thing is people-pleasing. It’s really why I love what I do. It’s overwhelming, the sense that you can make someone’s day better by changing the way that they look and make them feel better about themselves – that’s really what it’s about for me,” said Kirkendall.
Kirkendall says she is accepting resumes for cosmetologist positions and encourages those interested to submit a resume to email@example.com.
Prior to the Grand Opening, Studio B will host an Open House on December 20 from 4-8 p.m., complete with cookies and hot cocoa. Kirkendall says there will be raffles for services, door prizes and gift certificates.
