The Northend Super Reunion Committee (NSR) is hosting a ‘Turkey Jam’ Friday, Nov. 25, at the Notre Dame Community Center (formerly the CAY), 2310 Sunrise Ave. in Portsmouth from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.

In preparation for the NSR to be held July of 2017, Deanne Carr-Malone, co-chairperson of the committee, along with Jerald Gordon, said they endeavor to make the event bigger and better every four years.

“It’s our first fundraising event to kick start our Northend Reunion 2017 cycle. We always try to strive to pull as much money in as possible to make sure that this event is bigger and better than the last reunion we did four years ago,” Carr-Malone said. “So this is our first fundraising event of several to come, but we always try to maximize people coming in seeing their families and enjoying the fellowship in all one location to see as many people as you can, and hopefully its going to be a good time.”

The NSR committee has no specific dollar amount in terms of fundraising goals, according to Carr-Malone.

“We never have a goal, we always exceed our expectations, but we don’t have a monetary goal,” Malone said. “If we get a handful of people out to fellowship, that’s success for us, but right now ticket sells are going really well.”

Gordon said the excitement about the 2017 Northend Super Reunion multiplied when a lot of interest was expressed to serve on the committee.

“The whole committee is really excited about getting the ball rolling, and the momentum of the Northend Reunion, and the Turkey Jam was the first idea that we came up with,” Gordon said. “I think what we are even more excited about is that we had a bigger turn out for the number of people who were excited to help out the committee, so we have a lot of help this year. We have a DJ for this event, Carl Hairston will be the one laying out the music. He has already had people contact him on Facebook about some of the music they would like to hear.

There will be a cash bar, free food, and plenty of fun. The cost of tickets purchased in advance is $10 for single tickets, $20 for couples. The admission at the door is $15 for single tickets, $25 for couples. Tickets may be purchased by contact any of the NSR committee members, including Kathy Jones at 740-464-9757, Kaye Barlow, Yvette Jordan, Roxanne Mckinley, Tanya Malone, Velda Cave, Yulanda Cave, Randy Lewis, Tim Johnson, Doris Johnson, Lynda McGinnis, Deanne Carr-Malone, and Jerald Gordon.
