Shane Cartmill of Columbia Gas of Ohio is reporting approximately 250 to 300 customers in the Wheelersburg/Sciotoville area along Ohio 140 have lost gas service due to a hit line. Affected streets include: Aldrich, Butler, Dalton, East, Edgewood, Front, Gallia, High, Liberty, Main, Mathiott, McCall and Preston. He said their crews are making repairs and hope to begin restoring service later tonight.
Cartmill said Columbia Gas crews have made the situation safe and are currently making repairs to the line. Columbia Gas says they hope to begin restoring service later this evening.
He said, because of the outage, Columbia Gas crews must shut off the gas to every customer in the affected area. After repairs are completed, their crews will visit each customer (inside the home) to perform a safety inspection and relight appliances.
To help Columbia Gas crews quickly and safely complete restoration, customers will need inside access to every affected home or business; an adult must be present to allow their employees to restore service; an adult must be present to allow their employees to restore service.
Cartmill said, if you leave, please leave your contact information with your neighbor or on your door. Keep your porch light on. He reminds residents Columbia Gas employees and contractors carry photo ID and will be happy to show it on request.
