Washington-Nile LSD

Tell us about yourself-I’ve been a resident of West Portsmouth all of my life. I am married to Doug Coleman, my daughter Tracy is married to Scott Bauer. I have two grandchildren, Brooke and Brennan Bauer. I have worked for Boone Coleman Constriction for 41 years.

Why did you register?

I’m asking to be re-elected as there are still things that need to be addressed, such as more thorough preventative manintenance plan. I want our buildings to generate savings in both utilities and equipment life cycles.

Why do you feel you are the right candidate for this seat?

Quite simple, I have no personal agenda agenda other than the well-being of our children, staff and district.

What will you bring to the future of the said school board?

Accountability!

Troy Gahm

Valley Local School District

Tell us about yourself-I have been married for 25 years to my wife Julie, and have 4 Children and 3 grandchildren. I’m a pharmacist and small business owner in Valley School District which I graduated from in 1985.

Why did you register?I have and always will have the kids of Valley School District first when making decisions for Valley Schools. I’ve served 8 years on this board.

Why do you feel you are the right candidate for this seat?While serving on this board, I’ve help shape not only the improvements at the school but also the financials of the district.

What will you bring to the future of the said school board?I bring a vast knowledge of building and financial expertise to the board. I also understand and work within the confines of the law to help our district grow.

Robert Cline

Green Local Schools

Tell us about yourself-Franklin Furnace born and raised. Happily marries for 21 years with four daughters ages 29-14 years old, all went to Green. I am a Desert Storm Veteran, current school board member and employed by AK Steel.

Why did you register?I am running for another term because I am deeply committed to our kids and their education. Like anyother parent I want all our kids to have the absolute best education.

Why do you feel you are the right candidate for this seat?I’m the right candidate because I’m honest, hardworking and dedicated. I apply this in every aspect of my life. I beleve in our kid. No one will work harder for them.

What will you bring to the future of the said school board?My focus is on the success of our kids. So they are competitive in the world. With continued education or entering the workforce. Not only that they achieve their dreams but surpass them.

Adam Jones

Northwest Local

Tell us about yourself-Lifelong resident of our district and father to son, Jayden who is attending Kindergarten. In 1990 I became a second generation graduate of Northwest; father Glenn in 1960 brother, TJ in 1984.

Why did you register? I wanted to get involved in not only the future of my son’s education but the children of our district as well. I believe that I will bring a lot to the table.

Why do you feel you are the right candidate for this seat? – I will be able to devote the necessary time, attention and integrity that being a member of the board requires as well as responsibility, interest and knowledge to participate in the meetings.

What will you bring to the future of the said school board?

Make every tax dollar count, ensuring our school’s budget surplus. Ensure that our children have access to innovative, enriched learning opportunities resulting in a higher graduation percentage followed with college opportunities.

Washington Nile

Tell Us about yourself-I am Scott Staggs, my wife is Ashley and I have three boys Hunter Lee, Cody and Hunter Koal all are West students and are actively involved in their academics and extracurricular activities.

Why did you register? I want to take a more active role in decision making and the function of our school system.

Why to you feel you are the right candidate for this seat? I feel I can offer an new perspective and viewpoint.

What will you bring to the future of the said school board? I will bring a new voice, and confidence to work for and do what’s best for the entire school system.

Keith Crabtree

Northwest Local

Tell us about yourself-I am a 1985 graduate of Northwest and a lifelong resident of Northwest School District. I have been a school board member for 8 years and the board president for 2 years.

Why did you register?-I would like to continue improving our school system so the students and community have a district to be proud of.

Why do you feel you are the right candidate for this seat?-I believe I have worked very hard as an existing member to improve our district and we have came a long way in a short time. I will continue to work to make our district great.

What will you bring to the future of the said school board? I bring determination and leadership to our board. I am a member that continually looks for things that can be improved upon and is able to accomplish what I set out to do.

Green Local Schools

Tell us about yourself-I am married to Freida Otworth. We have two children, and 5 grandchildren. I am a 35 yr employee of G&J Pepsi Cola, as a Quality Control Manager.

Why did you register? I care about our schools and community, because my children attended, and grandchildren are attending Green Schools. I believe the education of our students should be top priority.

Why do you feel you are the right candidate for this seat? I am goal oriented and will strive towards educational excellence for our students. I believe, with my experience in management and budgeting, I will make the correct and fair decisions.

What will you bring to the future of the said school board? I will bring impartiality and honesty to the board, along with new ideas and opinions. I believe in doing what is right and keeping education at the forefront.

Brett A. Smith

Valley Local Schools

Tell us about yourself-I am married and father of three beautiful girls who will attend Valley. I am a successful businessman and practice law locally. I have extensive experience in the education field.

Why did you register? I am running because our kids deserve stability and an excellent education. My oldest has had three different principals and she is only in 4th grade. Our kids deserve better.

Why do you feel you are the right candidate for this seat? I have a vested interest in creating stability and success at our schools. I have three kids that will go to Valley and several nieces and nephews in the district.

What will you bring to the future of the said school board? I am not running to get jobs for my family or for personal gain. I will ALWAYS make decisions based on what is best for our kids. Keep kids first.

Sandi Poe

Green Local Schools

Tell us about yourself-I am a 1970 Green Alumni. I earned a BA in education from Rio Grande and a MA in education for Morehead State. My husband (John Poe) and I have three sons and three grandsons. After teaching at Green for over 35 years, I consider
it a privilege to still be serving my district as a board member.

Why did you register? I have chosen to run for a board seat to continue working on proposed projects for facility and academic improvements and technology upgrades. I feel it is also important to continue with student and staff recognitions throughout the district. On a personal note, it is a wonderful way for me to stay connected to former students and keep up with the ever changing face of public education.

Why do you feel you are the right candidate for this seat? I feel that I am worthy of the position because having forty-one years of experience in teaching and serving on the Board has given me a unique perspective as to what it takes for a school to run effectively.

What will you bring to the future of the said school board? In looking ahead, I will continue to work with fellow board members and administrators to achieve district goals and improvements while staying fiscally responsible to the citizens of Green Township.

Northwest Local School District

Tell us about yourself-I am a proud 2000 graduate of Northwest High School. Since 2004, I have directly connected to Northwest as a teacher, coach, and parent.

Why did you register? Even though I have chosen a different career path, I still have great passion for the education of our youth. I hope to enable our students to achieve success.

Why do you feel you are the right candidate for this seat? I am a former teacher and coach. I also have a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. I am currently helping to manage my family’s business. These attributes will be extremely useful.

What will you bring to the future of the said school board? I feel I will bring a different perspective to the board because of my youth, as well as my experience.
