Scioto County Sheriff’s Detective Jodi Conkel, wrote the following reflections on Facebook in reaction to the story earlier this week about the passing of a young child and comments on social media. The Daily Times was given permission to print her remarks for the benefit of our readers.
It’s been a very rough day and night for most of us and reading the stuff on here that is not true sickens me. I ask for all my friends to pray for everyone involved and stop and realize everything on social media is not true. I have spent the last 40 plus hours working with some amazing Portsmouth police officers, detectives, the prosecutors office investigator, EMS, hospital staff, dispatchers, deputies and the public who assisted. I appreciate each and every one of you guys more than you will ever know. A big Thank You to my boss Marty V. Donini and Robert Ware and his amazing staff for giving me the green light all weekend long to work on a case with them that was in the city. As you all know we might wear different uniforms but we are all family, and at the end of the day we want the same thing – Justice for our victims. I am thankful that God has blessed me and all my co-workers to have the ability and strength to help so many people. I hope each and every one of you reading this has a blessed day.
