Vern Riffe Center for the Arts hosts Fourth Annual After Dark

Staff Report

The Vern Riffe Center for the Arts (VRCFA) will be hosting its Fourth Annual After Dark Event starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26 in the Selby Lobby of the VRCFA.

The artists’ work range across a number of diverse media, including painting, ink, clay, mounted insects, and digital media. All the artists come from a wide range of backgrounds; we have Shawnee State University students, staff, alumni, teachers and retirees.

“One of the things we have learned of the last four years is how unexpectedly talented our neighbors are,” said VRCFA Director, Joe Patti. “We see the conversations on social media and overhear them at the event where people say, ‘I’ve known you for so long and didn’t know you could do this.’”

There will also be a special hands-on activity at the event where attendees can build their idea of a creative utopia. The activity is hosted by the Creative Cult which has lead similar projects during the Portsmouth’s Street Art Saturday events.

Light snacks will be served at the event and music will be provided by DJ Cody Mitton.
