The Vern Riffe School will be hosting its graduation ceremonies May 12 at 1 p.m. at the Vern Riffe School, 2619 Gallia Street.
The following students will be graduating: Kali Arnett, Ryan J. LeMaster, Abigail Christine Purtee and Kaylee Rose Maguire.
Kali Arnett, 21, the daughter of Renee McMahon, of Wheelersburg, participates in Special Olympics cheerleading and track and field. She also participates in Cirque d’Art and Teenage Girls Book Club. She was Vern Riffe School’s 2017 Prom Queen. Kali loves to be read to, eating chocolate, watching her favorite TV shows, going to the movies, and music. Kali is good-hearted and caring, and loves being sarcastic and making people laugh.
Ryan J. LeMaster is the son of Patricia Rowland of Franklin Furnace. He has participated in intramural basketball at Vern Riffe School. He enjoys crafting, puzzles, walking, the color red, and beads.
Kaylee Rose Maquire has attended Scioto County Board of Developmental Disabilities’ school programs since preschool. Kaylee has participated in Special Olympics cheerleading and track and field. She participates in and loves the Teenage Girls Book Club. She loves listening to music and hanging out with her friends.
Abigail Christine Purtee, daughter of Tom and Klaire Purtee, and little sister of Cecilia Sherman, began her educational journey with Early Intervention and The Carousel Center. She then attended Vern Riffe School and cheered for the Cardinals and Hardwood Heroes. Abi loves music, sparkles, and animals, especially her dog “Teddy Bear.” She enjoys long walks, going barefoot, and feeling the wind in her face. She always has her legs crossed like a “lady.” Abigail hopes to continue her adventures in the community through STAR Adult Day Service and Scioto Residential Service’s OUR Place.
