Maybe someone has let you down recently. Maybe you feel as if everyone is against you and nothing seems to be working out in your world. Maybe you led the Church in “silent prayer” and no one listened! Or maybe you’ve let yourself down.
You ought to know by now that; that is part of life. In fact, it happens to everyone.
But today, even though you are struggling, I want you to look up and take heart because God is faithful. He will do what He says He will do and He will never ever let you down.
Not only is God faithful and reliable, but He is committed to your spiritual growth and maturity.
First Thessalonians 5:23-24 says, “Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely, and may your whole spirit and soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. He who calls you is faithful; he will surely do it.”
I love those verses because they promise every Christian that God is constantly working on us. I don’t know if you ever thought of it but that is a three stage building project; He is building us creatively, constructively, and continually. The Spirit of God is working in your body and in your soul and His purpose is to make you more like Him!
Now don’t get frustrated; remember when you couldn’t wait to be a teenager and drive the car of your dreams? Didn’t it seem as if the time would never arrive? Well you made it didn’t you and now you probably wish that you could go back and do more with the time you fussed and fretted about.
We all need to remember that God is patient… and that God is persevering.
According to Philippians 1:6, “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” And when God gets through with you, you’re going to stand complete, perfect in the glory of Jesus Christ. You shall arise in His likeness. You will be like the One who died for you. That’s God’s goal in your life and mine… and He will be faithful to perform it!
But remember, never give in and never give up. Do you remember that old camp song “He’s Still Working On Me?” It is just as relevant today as it was when it was written. I know as I pen these words you are going to be singing them. Don’t be shy; go ahead nobody is watching or listening except your Heavenly Father. “He’s still working on me to make me what I ought to be.
It took Him just a week to make the moon and stars, the sun and the earth and Jupiter and Mars. How loving and patient He must be, He’s still working on me.” And brothers and sisters never forget; when you see a Christian they are a work in progress.
