Do you know if you are eligible for the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Discount? There are many individuals in our district who are unaware they are eligible to receive this wonderful assistance. A simple phone call to our Agency can help determine whether you meet theeligibility requirements. The Area Agency on Aging District 7 is able to provide this service through the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act grant from the Ohio Department of Aging. This project provides outreach to and enrollment assistance for individuals who may be eligible for the Low-Income Subsidy (“Extra Help”) and/or Medicare Savings Program.

PORTSMOUTH— Temple Tots Preschool, located in downtown Portsmouth, is teaching their students the value of hard work that goes into earning money. This month the students turned the dramatic play center into a real working bakery.

Timberlake gives opening prayer at state

WHEELERSBURG- It’s been a busy few months for community faith leader Jared Timberlake, who pastors Sandhill Christian Baptist. He was honored with the rare opportunity of a lifetime in December to travel to Washington, where he gave the opening prayer at the US House of Representatives. February came with two opportunities to spread his faith—he was welcomed to preach at the Christian Baptist Ministers Conference on February 3 and was also invited to give opening prayer at the Ohio House of Representatives last week.

Council to meet Monday to consider application for pedestrian project funding

PORTSMOUTH- Portsmouth City Council will meet Monday to consider approval of legislation that would allow the city do apply to the Ohio Department of Transportation’s Systemic Safety program. The goal is to make pedestrian improvements along 17th Street from Grandview Avenue to Mabert Road.
