PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – Following its best finish in Mid-South Conference play since the 2012-13 season, the Shawnee State men’s basketball team will represent the fifth seed in the Mid-South Conference Championships, which are set to begin Thursday at the Frankfort Convention Center in Frankfort, Ky.

The Bears will not be in action until day two, as Thursday begins with the play-in game featuring No. 9 St. Catharine College and No. 8 Cumberland University. Action heats up Friday with all four quarterfinal matchups.

Shawnee State takes aim at fourth-seeded Campbellsville University, which holds a 2-0 advantage over the Bears so far this season. CU won the first matchup of the year, 71-62, in Portsmouth on Nov. 19, before surging late en route to an 84-72 victory in Campbellsville on Jan. 28.

Should the Bears claim a first-day victory over the Tigers, SSU will then turn around to face the winner of top-seeded Georgetown and the winner of the play-in game. That semifinal matchup will be played on Saturday at 6 p.m.
