The filling deadline for the March 15, 2016 primary election was Wednesday afternoon. A number of people filed petitions with the Scioto County Board of Elections, seeking re-election to an officer or seeking an office.
There will be two county commissioner seats on the ballot, Rick Dustman, David Malone and Ryan Ottney are Democratic candidates, for one of the seats. Doug Coleman is running unopposed as a Republican candidate for the seat.
Mike Crabtree is running unopposed as a Republican Candidate for Scioto County Commissioner. Thomas Jefferson Davis and Kevin W. Johnson is also seeking election to county commissioner.
Steve Goins is running as a Democrat candidate for Scioto County Sheriff, Marty V. Donini is running as a Republican candidate for Scioto County Sheriff.
Craig Opperman is running as a Democratic candidate for Scioto County Engineer. Darren C. LeBrun is running as a Republican candidate for Scioto County Engineer.
Terry Johnson is running as a Republican candidate for 90th District State Representative. Tara Cordle is running as a Democratic candidate for 90th District State Representative.
The opposed races with more than one party candidate will have be on the primary ballot. The primary will narrow the candidates down to one person from each party, that will face each other in the General Election.
Lisa D. Novinger is running as an unopposed Republican candidate for Clerk of Courts, Mark E. Kuhn is running unopposed Republican candidate for Scioto County Prosecuting Attorney. Darren Adams as running unopposed Republican candidate for Scioto County Coroner.
There will the three local liquor options on certain ballots. The options are being asked for by Bolands Mini Mart, they are asking voters permission to sell beer. Kroger’s of Wheelersburg is asking voters permission to sell beer, wine and mixed beverages. Burg Brew Thru is asking voters to sell alcohol.
Ohio Secretary of State issued the candidates that will be on the primary ballot in Ohio, Jeb Bush, Republican, Ben Carson, Republican, Chris Christie, Republican, Hillary Clinton, Democrat, Ted Cruz, Republican, Roque “Rocky” De La Fuente, Democrat, Carly Fiorina, Republican. Lindsey Graham, Republican, Mike Huckabee, Republican, John Kasich, Republican, Martin O’Malley, Democrat, Rand Paul, Republican, Marco Rubio, Republican, Bernie Sanders, Democrat, Rick Santorum, Republican, Donald Trump, Republican and Willie Wilson, Democrat.
Those running for senate include, Joseph DeMare, Green Party, Don Elijah Eckhart, Republican, Rob Portman, Republican, Kelli Prather, Democrat, P.G. Sittenfeld, Democrat, Ted Strickland, Democrat and Melissa Strzala, Republican.
Those running for Supreme Court of Ohio include, Pat DeWine, Republican, Pat Fischer, Republican, Maureen O’Connor, Republican, John P. O’Donnell, Democrat, Colleen O’Toole, Republican and Cynthia Rice, Democrat.
The Scioto County Board of Elections will meet on December 23 to certify the petitions of local candidates, once certifyed the candidates will move on to the primary ballot.
