Marty V. Donini is seeking his sixth term as Sheriff of Scioto County. Donini is currently serving his 19th year as sheriff with 37 years of experience in criminal justice and 34 years with the sheriff’s office.

He is a graduate of Notre Dame High School, has an associates of art degree in Police Administration, was a member of Alpha Phi Sigma, a national criminal justice honor society, the Association of Law Enforcement and Beta Theta Pi, a national fraternity. Donini received his bachelors degree in Criminal Justice from Ohio University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude.

A graduate of multiple training courses and programs, Donini has earned over 3,000 hours of education and has attended several schools including the Ohio Peace Officer’s Training Academy, Buckeye State Sheriff’s Association Training Program and more.

Donini said he intends to continue the efforts of developing a professional sheriff’s office through the strict implementation of policy and procedures, the ongoing standardized educational training sessions for all officers and what he termed “the well developed hiring and recruiting procedures for employment.”

Donini said he also intends to aggressively investigate and arrest those involved in drug trafficking and to continue his efforts in producing significant revenue from the operation of the Scioto County Jail along with maintaining the Community Oriented Policing program implemented during the late 90s in Clay, Nile, Green, Porter and Washington townships which he says has resulted in the hiring of eight additional deputy sheriffs who are assigned patrol duties exclusively within each of the selective communities.

A lifelong resident of Scioto County, he and his wife, Sharon K. Caudill-Donini have been married 36 years and have two children, Arica and Andrew, both Ohio State University graduates.
