Woman arrested with meth lab

A woman with two children in her house has been arrested and charged with operating a methamphetamine lab. Sandra McGlone, 34, of 3254 Houston Hollow Long Run Rd. in Lucasville is charged with illegal manufacture of methamphetamine within the vicinity of a juvenile, a felony of the first degree, and illegal assembly and/or possession of chemicals for the manufacture of methamphetamine, a felony of the second degree.

Saturday afternoon Scioto County Sheriff’s Office dispatch received a request for help from Sandra McGlone, though the nature of the assistance was not known to deputies.

Deputies said, when they arrived they found McGlone standing in the roadway and “appeared to be in a state of confusion” according to the report. The report went on to say she told them her two boys were in the house and being abused by someone. However, deputies said when they went to the house the boys told them no one was abusing them but that their mother “was acting crazy.”

Meanwhile, dispatch informed officers there was a warrant for McGlone from Portsmouth Municipal Court for failure to appear, so they drove back to the road and located McGlone at the corner of Houston Hollow Long Run Road and Ohio 139 and placed her under arrest. That is when she reportedly told them there was a meth lab in her house.

Deputies said the house was in “deplorable condition” with scattered trash, no running water and no electricity. When they entered a door off the kitchen they said they smelled a strong chemical odor and observed meth vessels and materials sitting on a water tank and on the floor.

Drug agents from the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force and detectives from the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office were summoned and responded and dismantled the lab seizing the items which included a one pot meth cooking vessel, three hydrogen chloride gas generators, empty boxes of nasal decongestant containing pseudoephedrine, empty cans of staring fluid, empty cans of lighter fluid and tubing.

The report said Scioto County Children Services responded to the scene and removed the children and McGlone was placed in the Scioto County Jail and was to be arraigned in Portsmouth Municipal Court.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said the investigation is ongoing and additional arrests are expected to be made in the case. The case will be forwarded to the Scioto County Prosecutor’s Office to be presented to a Scioto County grand jury.

Donini said anyone wishing to leave drug information for the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force can contact the Task Force tip line at 740-354-5656 or email [email protected]. All information will be kept confidential and anonymous.
