The two people the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office identifies as those who have been receiving the drug flakka through the mail have been taken into custody.

Both Misty Holt, 35 and Timothy Brumfield, 35 turned themselves into the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday. Upon hearing that they were wanted and seeing the information on social media both turned themselves into the Sheriff’s Office.

Scioto County Sheriff Marty V. Donini said his detectives have been actively working on several cases of trafficking in the new bath salt Flakka.

Detectives were able to identify suspects that were having flakka delivered to them through the mail from other countries. He said during the investigation detectives were able to seize two deliveries of the flakka and interview possible suspects. The suspected flakka was reportedly sent to the BCI&I lab for testing which resulted in charges being presented to the Scioto County grand jury who returned an indictment warrant on the two suspects, Brumfield and Holt, whose last known address was 1089 B Big Pete Road in Franklin Furnace.

Detectives had received information that the two had moved to Lewis County, Kentucky.

Flakka or Alpha-PVP is chemically similar to other synthetic cathinone drugs popularly called “bath salts,” and takes the form of a white or pink, foul-smelling crystal that can be eaten, snorted, injected, or vaporized in an e-cigarette or similar device. Vaporizing, which sends the drug very quickly into the bloodstream, may make it particularly easy to overdose.
