FRANKLIN FURNACE – Monday night was a tough night for the Green Lady Bobcats, as they were defeated by the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings 62-37. The loss came on the opening night for conference play for the Southern Ohio Conference (SOC). After the win, Symmes Valley evened up their overall record to 1-1, while earning a 1-0 SOC record. Green, playing its first official game of the season falls to an 0-1 record, both overall, and in the conference.

“I would like to say that I was proud of my team’s effort,” Lady Bobcat coach Melissa Knapp commented. “Although we lost by 25, I can see them playing harder, and getting better, every time we step on the court.”

Knapp remains optimistic about her team, and the work they put into getting better every day. Not all news was bad for the Lady Bobcats who had several strong performers in the game.

Kaylynn Blizzard led Green with an impressive 21 point night. Blizzard started the night with seven points in the first quarter, and four in the second. The Lady Vikings found a way to keep Blizzard scoreless in the third, but she would fire back with 11 in the fourth quarter, including two three-pointers.

Adrian Hall also had a good night on the floor, for the Lady Bobcats. Her biggest offensive production came in the fourth quarter where she scored eight of her 11 points. In the fourth, Hall hit two big three-pointers, in what was the best scoring quarter for Green. She also shot 60% from the free throw line, making three out of five attempts.

Symmes Valley had three players score double digits Monday night, Jensyn Shepherd, Kaitlyn Payne, and Payton Walsh.

Shepherd scored 12 points, all coming from the field, while Payne finished with 14. Finally, Walsh scored 10 on the evening, eight from the field, while being perfect from the free throw line, sinking both of her tries.

Both teams will remain inactive until the passing of the Thanksgiving holiday.

Symmes Valley will suit up again on Monday, November 30th, when they travel to Beaver, Ohio to take on Eastern’s Lady Eagles. That game will have a 6 p.m. tipoff.

Knapp and her Lady Bobcats won’t see the hardwood again until December 3rd, when they will take on Scott Cayton’s Clay Lady Panthers. It will take place at Clay High School and is scheduled for a 6 p.m. tipoff.
