The East Tartans defeated the Notre Dame Titans 44-34 in an exciting Week 10 matchup between the SOC I rivals. Following the win, the Tartans (6-4, 3-3) improved to a perfect 5-0 home record, and a fourth place finish in the SOC I standings. The Titans (4-6, 2-4) finished fifth in the conference standings, just behind East.

After the first quarter, it seemed unlikely the game would have a total of 78 total points. Both the Tartans and Titans were unable to find the end zone all throughout the first quarter. That would change in the second quarter, as both teams found ways to score.

In the first minute of the second quarter, the Notre Dame Titans were able to break the scoring drought of the first quarter thanks to a successful 29-yard field goal by Drew Cassidy.

A few minutes later, the Tartans would respond with a score of their own, a 13-yard connection between Drew Lowe and Akia Brown. The Tartans would run a successful 2-point conversion, and took a lead of 8-3 over the Titans with 6:45 remaining in the second quarter.

Notre Dame’s Sam Kayser would give the lead back to the Titans as he broke out a 35-yard touchdown run less than two minutes after the East score. With 4:40 remaining in the half, East trailed Notre Dame 8-10.

East would answer back with a 25-yard scoring run by Zane Scott. After the 2-point conversion, the Tartans reclaimed the lead, 16-10 with just over two minutes remaining in the half.

In the last seconds of the half, Notre Dame fired back and scored with only 15 seconds remaining on the clock. With the score, the Titans went into the half with a one point lead 17-16 over the Tartans.

The second half would mirror the second quarter, with multiple scores for both teams.

Brown got the scoring party started with a 53-yard touchdown run with 8:44 remaining in the quarter. East reclaimed the lead 24-17 after the 2-point attempt.

Michael Collins of the Titans punched in a score later in the third quarter with his 3-yard run, bringing the game to a dead even tie at 24-24 with 4:40 remaining in the third quarter.

The Tartans would return the favor with another score in the third quarter thanks to an 11-yard run that gave East a 30-24 lead.

In the fourth quarter, both teams would score twice. For the Titans, Cassidy hit a 34-yard field goal while Kayser found the end zone for the second time during the game with a 17-yard run. The Tartans would get both of their fourth quarter scores from Brown runs of 51 yards and 28 yards.

In the end, the Tartans prevailed over the Titans 44-34.
