Portsmouth Police are not releasing the name of a 13 year old boy who was struck by a car while riding his bicycle Friday morning.

Police said the boy was headed to school in New Boston on his bicycle around 7:55 a.m. eastbound in the right lane in the 2900 block of Walnut Street in Portsmouth when he changed lanes without looking and was struck by a vehicle in the left lane.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Melissa Bays, 32, of Portsmouth.

Police said the boy was transported by Portsmouth Ambulance to Southern Ohio Medical Center. An officer who responded to the scene later went to SOMC and checked on the boy who was undergoing tests.
