Bloomquist dominates at PRP

Sports Release

It all came together flawlessly, especially for Scott Bloomquist who led every lap of his heat and later every lap of the 50-lap feature en route to a $10,000-dollar payday. For Bloomquist, Saturday’s victory marked his fourth straight Lucas Oil win.

The night, as a whole, was filled with incredible racing with a lot of side-by-side action especially in the Late Model A-Main. Some drivers hugged the inside. Others rode the top side right up next to the wall. However, all of this intense action took place behind Bloomquist who was never seriously challenged at any point in the race.

While Bloomquist had the field covered, from second on back was certainly wild at times. The 50-lap feature had nine cautions. Most were for single-car incidents. The most serious accident took place on lap 32 when the fourth, fifth, and sixth-place cars of Devin Moran, Dennis Erb, Jr., and Jimmy Owens got together.

The accident ended the night for both Erb and Moran but Owens charged on. The Newport, Tennessee native wound up climbing from eighth to second.

There was plenty of passing back through the field. While Owens advanced six spots, series points leader Jonathan Davenport came through the B-Main and moved up all the way from 17th to third to salvage what could’ve been a rough night in the Lucas Oil points.

Earl Pearson, Jr. also gave his machine quite the ride. Like Davenport, he moved up 14 positions, as he climbed from 21st to seventh.

Outside pole sitter Eddier Carrier, Jr. got shuffled back to 12th on the first lap but rallied back to claim sixth.

Finishing in the top five behind Bloomquist, Owens, and Davenport were Don O’Neal and Steve Francis. Carrier, Pearson, Steve Casebolt, Jackie Boggs, and Brandon Sheppard rounded out the top 10.

The next five were Rod Conley, Chris Brown, Steve Lucas, Kevin Wagner, and Jared Landers. Placing 16th through 20th were Shannon Thornsberry, Erb, Moran, Billy Gullion, and R.J. Conley. Doug Drown, Audie Swartz, Kenny Christy, and Delmas Conley made up the rest of the field.

Saturday’s Late Model heat race winners were Boomquist, Erb, Carrier, and Moran. Davenport won the B-Main.

Todd Robinson earned $1,000 by winning the Pro Active Occupational Medicine Modified A-Main. For Robinson, it was his sixth victory of the season in the R.W. Rental and Supplies Modified Division.

Robinson got by Adam Colley on lap nine and held on the rest of the way. Finishing behind Robinson and Colley were Ben Adkins, Jeremy Hayes, and Ervin Vance. Making up the rest of the top 10 were Jodie Puckett, Tony DeHart, Drew Bender, Shawn Holliday, and Jeremy Rayburn.

Rayburn was the Markwest Ranger Pipeline Hard Charger advancing nine positions.
