Not only did the Waverly girls soccer team improve to 2-0 in conference play on Tuesday evening with a 4-0 win over West, but they made history doing it.

Within the first minute of the game, Andrea Bradley took a pass from Morgan Peterson and sent the ball to the back of the net to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. According to Waverly girls’ soccer coach Chris Murphy, the goal was the quickest score in any game in program history.

Brittany Green, Maria Houston and McKayla Stutz all added second-half goals for the Tigers to put the game out of reach. Waverly keeper Dawndra Newland added her second shutout of the season in the win.

Waverly (2-1-0, 2-0-0 SOC II) will take the field again on Saturday, when they travel to Eastern for a non-conference matchup. West is back in action on Sept. 8, when they travel to take on Northwest for another SOC II matchup.
