• The Southern Ohio Museum and Cultural Center continues to highlight two traveling pieces this week. The shows include “The Melting Pot: Cultural Fusions” and the “Best of 2015 Craft Exhibition.” Donations are kindly accepted. The museum is at 825 Gallia Street, Portsmouth.
• The Pullman Square Summer Concert Series will be continued Thursday, August 27 in Pullman Square, 220 9th Street, Huntington. The live music event will be feature the talent of Larry Whit and Blue Eyed Soul.
• The Ohio University Southern Campus will be opening the first exhibit of its artistic season, which features the work of Vernon Howell, on Thursday, August 27. The show will run until September 24. Admission is free and the artwork can be found in the Art Gallery of the Dingus Technology Center.
• The Wheelersburg branch of the Portsmouth Public Library will be hosting its Tween Back to School program on Thursday, August 27 at 4:30 p.m. Students are invited to make bookmarks for each subject to start their school years off on the right foot. The library is at 10745 Old Gallia Pike, Wheelersburg.
• Boneyfiddle Final Friday will be held on Portsmouth’s Second Street on Friday, August 28, starting at 5 p.m. The event will feature many local artisans, as well as live performances by Holly and the Guy, Micah Kesselring, Chasten Davis, Ryan Sprinkle, Sugarbeats, and Emily Kinner. Haskins House will be having a 20 percent off sale during the event.
• Christ Stapleton will perform at the Paramount Arts Center on Friday, August 28 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets range from $25 to $50. The event will be held at 1300 Winchester Avenue.
• All teens ages 13-18 are invited to join the New Boston branch of the Portsmouth Public Library on Friday, August 28th at 4 p.m. for the Young Adult Summer Book Club meeting. They will be featuring books into movies themed activities. During the event, teens will read the books, discuss them, and later watch the movie based on the book. • Arts Resources for the Tri-state will be presenting the production “Medea” on August 28 and 29. The theatre is located at 900 8th Street, Huntington, West Virginia. The curtain will open at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15.
• Living History Tour will be held at Tecumseh! Outdoor Theatre on Saturday, August 29 at 3 p.m. The event will be held at 5968 Marietta Road, Chillicothe. Admission is $5.
• A community jam session will be held Sunday, August 30 at 2 p.m. in the courtyard of Riverview Retirement Center. Locals are invited to come perform or listen to good music. The event is held at 500 2nd Street, Portsmouth. It will be held every Sunday in the Riverview Retirement Center until cool weather, in which case it will be moved inside.
• Theology on Tap will be held every Monday at Port City, starting at 6 p.m. The doors are open for conversationalists to enjoy discussion on open-minded philosophical topics and debates in the company of good people and high spirits. The event is in the front room of the pub, 424 Chillicothe Street, Portsmouth.
• The Wheelersburg branch of the Portsmouth Public Library will be hosting an event called Teen Halloween Painting on September 1 at 5:30 p.m. Local teens are invited to show their artistic talents to create a Halloween character with a lawn paver. • Port City Open Mic Poetry will be held Wednesday, September 2, starting at 7 p.m. All members of the public are welcome to share their own work and listen to work written by their neighbors. This event falls on the first Wednesday of every month. The event is held in the front room of the pub, 424 Chillicothe Street, Portsmouth.
• The South Webster branch of the Portsmouth Public Library will be hosting an event called Build it Lego on September 3 at 4 p.m. Children ages 6-12 are invited to test their creative skills with Lego at 496 Webster Street, South Webster. For more information, call 740-778-2122.

• Port City Open Mic Music will be held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, with sign-ups at 7:30 p.m. The event is for local musicians to perform a small set list for the public. The event is held at the pub,

• The main branch of the Portsmouth Public Library will be hosting a River Days Cartoon Marathon on September 5, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., where kids are invited to watch classic cartoons with the Youth Services Department. There will also be crafts for children to partake in.
• Frank-N-Steins will be hosting a concert on Sunday, September 6, from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. entitled Joey Ray’s Musicians Memorial Show and Jam. The music will feature live performances of all genres. Some of the musicians include Vivian Shooter, Tom Hill, Linda Whisman, Jess James, Gary Billups, Joey Ray, Warren Smith, Gio Settonni, Wyatt Bates, Diana Mae, Kaci Kielmar, Jerry Brooks, Guns Drawn, Chronic Pounder, Randy Boldman, Tom Stiverson, and many more. There will be no cover charge.
• Portsmouth Little Theatre auditions for “The Glass Menagerie” will be held on Tuesday, September 8 and Wednesday, September 9 at 7 p.m. Portsmouth Little Theatre is at 1117 Lawson Street, Portsmouth.
