South Webster took home a four-team golf match on Monday morning, fueled by a hole-in-one by Zach Bresseler.
Bressler aced the 175-yard 15th hole at Dogwood Hills Country Club to help the the Jeeps finish with a match-best combined score of 206. South Webster was led by Luke Collins, who shot a nine-hole team best of 47.
The Jeeps finished two shots ahead of Eastern, who combined to shoot 208 on the day. Cole Haislop finished with a 45 to lead the Eagles.
Though Western did not have enough golfers to field an official team, it was the Indians’ Elias Montgomery who earned match medalist honors. Montgomery shot a four-over 40 to lead all golfers on the day.
Notre Dame also took part in Monday’s match, and was led by Truman Hash with a nine-hole score of 51.
All four teams will be back in action on Wednesday, when they return to Dogwood to take part in the second SOC I match of the season. South Webster currently holds a 14-stroke lead over second-place Clay in the team standings, while Montgomery holds a one-stroke lead over the Panthers’ Wyatt Large in the race for Player of the Year.
