Terry Browning, 61
Terry Alan Browning, 61, of McDermott, Ohio, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at SOMC.
He was born on Aug. 26, 1951, in Mansfield, Ohio. He was the son of William Charles Browning and Ruth Margaret Koenig Browning. Terry was preceded in death by his mother Ruth Browning. He was united in marriage July 25, 1975, to Deborah Pauline Miller.
Surviving him are his wife Debbie, his two sons Benjamin (Mekea) Browning of Otway, Christopher (Lisa) Browning of West Portsmouth, and his daughter Amanda Browning of McDermott. Also surviving are his grandsons Alan and Jacob Pickel of McDermott, and Kaden, Gatlin, Sawyer, and Beau Browning of Otway. Also surviving him are his sisters Margie Oyster, Peggy (Rick) Miller, Reva (Joe) Brady, Erica (Jerry) Blair, and his brothers Tim (Lisa) Browning, Dan (Belle) Browning, Geno Browning, Mike (Dawn) Browning.
Terry is also “Dad” and “Grandpa” of very many friends, all of which he considered family.
He graduated from Clear Fork High School in 1969. He served in the United States Army for two years. He is a Vietnam Veteran. He retired from the Ohio Division of Forestry on April 30, 2004, after 25 years of service as a Forest Officer. Terry also worked with all county fire departments with training and the Federal Excess Program. He was the voice in a Firefighter training video that was used for many years.
Terry enjoyed volunteering his time at the local fire department for all their fundraising needs. Since retiring, he has enjoyed spending more time with his wife Debbie and all of his grandkids, nieces, and nephews. He is an avid photographer and enjoys the outdoors. He also enjoyed spending time in his building making wooden crafts for his family and friends.
Services will be held at Botkin Funeral Home in Otway, Ohio, on Friday Dec. 28, at 1 p.m. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour. Military Graveside services will be conducted by American Legion-Wm. A. Baker Post #363 in the U.P. Cemetery on Dry Run Rd.
