Emmitt Neal, 89

Rev. Emmitt R. Neal, 89 of Urbana, formerly of Wheelersburg, went to be in the arms of Jesus on Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012. He was born Jan. 21, 1923, in Milton, W.Va., a son of the late John and Eleanor (Cart) Neal. Rev. Neal spent 40 years serving as an Ordained Minister and was General Superintendent of Interdenominational Association of Ministers and Christian Workers (IAMCW). He was very devoted to the Lord and his family. He was also a retired self employed truck driver and owned and operated the Wheelersburg office of Putnam Truckload. He was often referred to as the Grandfather of trucking. Rev. Neal and Ruth moved to Urbana in 2005 where they enjoyed retirement near their family and Serving the Lord. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Ruth Gray Neal; three daughters, Cheryl and Marty Evans of Urbana, Sue and Gene Hillard of Georgetown, Ky. and Beverly Bennett of Graysville, Ala..; three sons, Donald Wayne and Rowena Neal of Lucasville, Eddie and Loraine Lewis Neal of Lucasville and James and Jeanette Neal of St. Joseph, Mo.; one brother, Don Neal of Edinburg, Texas; a sister, Idella Lohman of Fairfield Glades, Tenn.; 26 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday Dec. 7, 2012, at Sand Hill Christian Baptist Church with Pastors Ronnie Blevins, and Kenny Cordell officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be at the church on Thursday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Arrangements are being handled by D.W. SWICK FUNERAL HOME IN NEW BOSTON.
