Caloway “Scott” King III, 63
Caloway “Scott” King III, age 63, longtime resident of Columbus, Ohio passed away unexpectedly on October 26, 2012. He was born July 5, 1949 in Sciotoville, Ohio to the late Caloway Scott King II and Rosie Elizabeth (Collins) King. Scott graduated from Portsmouth East High School and was a U.S. Air Force Vietnam Veteran, having served as an air traffic controller stationed in Germany.
He earned a BSN from Morehead State University and retired from The Ohio State University Medical Center where he worked as a transplant unit coordinator. Scott enjoyed painting, woodworking and sculpting. He had a passion for traveling and studying the history of the world around him. He was fully present in all that he did, and he never knew a stranger. He is survived by his sisters, Phyllis (Jim) Steelesmith of Galena and Barbara (Mike) Filkins of Newark; nieces, Karen (Randy) Crabtree and Beverly (Mike) Pettit; nephews, Nathan (Ariane) Filkins and Matthew Scott Filkens; lifelong friend, Toka Holland; beloved pets, Gracie and Jo-Jo and many good friends at the Jewish Vocational Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Patricia Williams of Columbus and Louise Burton of Oakhill. Family will receive friends 5-7pm Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at Schoedinger North Chapel, 5554 Karl Rd., Columbus, OH 43209 where a service will begin at 7pm; private family interment at a later date.
