Jake Stockham, 71

Harold T. “Jake” Stockham, 71, of McDermott, went to be with the Lord Sept. 16, 2012, at SOMC Hospice with his family by his side.

He was born Nov. 4, 1940, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Richard Stanley and Mayme Marie Smith Stockham.

Jake was a retired cable repairman from Western Electric Company in Columbus, attended Rush Free Baptist Church, and was a 1958 McDermott High School graduate. He enjoyed riding his tractor and golf cart through the woods, cookouts with the family and friends, and loved his two dogs and two cats. He was a very passionate, loving, caring, and easy going man. He had a lot of friends and was always joking and laughing with them.

He is survived by his special friend, Virginia Smith of Ironton; his son, Jake Shannon Stockham (Bebs) of Minford; one daughter Sonya Pelnarsch (Sam) of Ramona, Calif.; three grand-daughters Kylie Pelnarsch, Jessica and Jana Stockham; two step-grandsons Jernbergh and Skiler; nephews Mark Stockham, Tim (Tabi) Smalley, Mike and Terry Wickham; and one niece Sherrie Stockham;

He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Don and Paul Stockham; and three sisters Helen Stockham, Sally Wickham, and Judy Smalley.

Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at the McKinley Funeral Home in Lucasville with Michael DeFoe officiating. Burial will follow in Rushtown Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Thursday an hour before the funeral at the funeral home.
