Gene L. Oberley, 78
Gene Lowell Oberley, 78, of Minford lost a brave battle at OSU on July 27, 2012, after a 10 month illness. Gene was born November 12, 1933 to the late Lowell and Gertrude (Frowine) Oberley.
A member of the Minford class of 1952, he enjoyed gatherings with former classmates. He had a great love for the violin and played with the Cincinnati Seven Hills Synfonietta and the Portsmouth Community Orchestra. He also was a teacher of the violin. He was a graduate of Rochester University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed by Cincinnati Milling Machine and later American Laundry. He was a very valuable part of the company with patents in commercial laundry machine equipment.
Gene was the brother of Nancy Smith and Paul Oberley of Minford and Patricia Graham of Marietta, Ohio. He is survived by many nephews and nieces.
A private family service will be held on his farm as he requested. Arrangements are under the direction of Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford. Online condolences may be sent to www.edafh.com.
