Inez Burns, 85
Inez Alice Webb Burns, 85, of Portsmouth, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Southern Ohio Medical Center. She was born Jan. 5, 1927, in Portsmouth, a daughter of the late George Willard and Ethel D. Toller Webb.
Inez was a member of Pleasant Green Baptist Church and a 1944 Portsmouth High School graduate. A homemaker, she had been a file clerk at Shawnee State University. She also truly enjoyed being a SSU Golden Bear.
She was preceded in death Dec. 7, 1992, by her husband Charles Cecil Burns, whom she married in 1981 in Portsmouth.
Surviving are five sons, Gary E. (Donna Marie) Bolden of Bedford, Mass, George W. (Michele) Bolden, James S. Bolden, Lawrence I. Bolden, all of Portsmouth, and Ben Davis III of Columbus; four daughters, Patricia Stephens of Los Angeles, Calif., Donna J. Carr of Columbus, Vivian L. Covington and Benita A. Reeves, both of Dayton; a brother, George W. “Shink” Webb of Cincinnati; and a sister, Edna C. White-Douglas of Detroit, Mich.; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
She was also preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth and Robert Bolden; a daughter, Gerald “Geri” E. Bolden; and a brother, James R. Webb.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday at Pleasant Green Baptist Church with Rev. Clarence Parker officiating and interment in Greenlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from noon until 1 p.m. at the church Monday.
